The Food Crisis is Personal

Stop. Look at your plate. The science is undeniable: our global food system is fundamentally broken.

The new EAT–Lancet Commission report lays bare the brutal truth: what we eat, and how we produce it, is the single biggest driver of environmental collapse. At the exact same time, this broken system denies half the world a healthy diet. This is a failure to uphold the most basic human rights—the right to food, to health, and to dignity.

Andrea Rasca, Founder of Movimento Metropolitano (MoM), says it best: ‘this is personal’. As you’ll know from following us, MoM connects food, health, and community through four core pillars: nutrition, education, community, and advocacy.

Food, for Andrea, was never just about calories. It was about identity, belonging, and joy—the community built around his grandmother's table, the respect for the land and ingredients learned from his father.

This is the cultural key to transformation. The sweeping changes the scientists are demanding won't be fixed by policy and data alone. The shift must be cultural. We must restore the simple, fundamental happiness of eating together. We must make real food accessible to everyone.

The report confirms our long-held belief: food is a human right, not a privilege. A truly fair food system is the non-negotiable foundation for strong, resilient societies.

The great food transformation starts with your choices, in your community, and right at your table. Read Andrea's full thoughts and join the urgent discussion on his LinkedIn page here.
