MoM: The Economics of Us

There's a kind of knowing that comes from the heart of a good, honest meal. It's the smell of fresh bread from the oven, the taste of a vegetable pulled straight from the soil, still with a bit of earth clinging to it. That's where you find the true meaning of freedom, not in some
grand, empty promise, but in the small, steadfast things of life.
Ever since 2015, when Movimento Metropolitano (MoM) was born, our work hasn’t been about profit for its own sake, but about regenerating forgotten urban areas and communities, always through food as the catalyst. We've consistently championed the vibrant gathering of small businesses, artisan producers, and local entrepreneurs. It's a simple, moral pact: their freedom to prosper is a goal we all share, because ‘small is beautiful'. This belief in fairness and sustainability is rooted in a very simple wisdom. It’s the very essence of the MoM philosophy - a promise to the future to plant a seed you may not see grow, but you plant it all the same for the generations to come. This is a vision that aligns with the insights of Nobel laureate Joseph E. Stiglitz in his book, The Road to Freedom. As our founder, Andrea Rasca, has recently highlighted, true freedom isn't found in free markets that serve only a few, but in a moral economy where individual rights are balanced with the common good. We believe in being mindful that our freedoms are interconnected and open to collaboration, with a deep commitment to moral principles of justice and sustainability.
Our vision of freedom transcends idealism. It recognises that both economics and politics are inseparable from the honest meal on our plates, and a future that is carefully tended for everyone.
